Industries

1. Power Generation

Power plants operated with coal, natural gas or oil are the primary sources of power supply and therefore must be constantly available. Failure of a primary component not only has direct consequences locally, but can also affect the stability of the entire mains infrastructure.

Critical equipment monitored in power plants are:

  • Turbine
  • Generator
  • Pump
  • Motor
  • Gear Box
  • Fan
  • Compressor

2. Pulp & Paper

The Pulp & Paper industry is complex, supporting a wide array of machines and mechanical processes running virtually around the clock. Being able to plan operations down to the hour is essential to profitable operation of the plant.

The primary assets to monitor in any facility are generally pumps and rotating equipment. This includes saws, paper machine rolls, roll drives, fans, pumps, circulating filters, Barking Drum, Chipper, Turbine, Generator, Bleaching, Refiners, Cleaners, Digesters, Washers Screens, Evaporators, Recovery Boilers Fans, Water treatment plants, Head Box, Press Rolls, Dryer Rolls, Calendar, Winder. Nearly every piece of equipment in this category is critical and requires careful monitoring or production could be interrupted and profits lost.

3. Oil & Gas

Oil and gas are the fuels of the industrialized world. Uninterrupted supply of these raw materials ensures mobility and a reliable power supply. Failure in the supply chain usually have severe impact in many industrial sectors.

Oil Platforms :
Oil platform produces from multiple wells located within 15 miles of radius from the platform itself. Oil and gas flows to the platform where it is treated and separated. Several processes take place on the platform to aid in the treatment and separation process. Oil and gas are then transported via pipeline to shore. These pipelines sometimes feed other offshore platforms that act as transfer stations to boost pressures.

4. Metals & Minerals

Encompasses a wide range of industrial segments including mining, mineral/ore dressing, steel manufacturing, and pyro processing plants and mills.

The primary assets to monitor in the metals and minerals industry are roll stand drives, pumps and fans, mill motors and air compressors. Generally a specific “unit” in the steel industry is comprised of many individual machines. For example, a rolling mill will be made up of a large (1500+ horsepower) motor driving through gearboxes to roughing mills, and multiple direct-drive motors turning the rolling table rolls. In just one typical rolling mill, it is possible to have 250or more ‘bearing points’ including motors, gearboxes, table rolls and roughing mill rolls.

5. Naval & Marine

Relytech has naval, marine and large maritime transportation services programs designed to meet the specific requirements of our customers. On the high seas, maximum reliability of machinery is critical to survival. Failure of a machine can result in financial damage and can also jeopardize the environment or human lives.

6. Chemical Processing

Ensuring safety and uptime for Chemical production facilities present unique machinery types that PdM solutions can help maintain their reliability and uptime while eliminating the risk of widespread environmental issues or disasters.

A failure in these types of systems can result in downtime causing profit loss, or in the worst case, a fugitive emission or disaster:

  • Glass lined pumps for corrosive or caustic agents
  • Multiple compressors, whether turbo, reciprocating or screw-type
  • Pumps for moving volatile liquids, or coolants for temperature maintenance of particular processes
  • Other primary assets in chemical processing include process fans, blowers, extrusion systems, reactor agitators, steam plants and support equipment, and chillers

7. Industrial Manufacturing

Industrial manufacturing presents a unique situation in terms of reliability, primarily due to the nature of production. While a wide range of other industries can run at reduced loads or output after suffering unexpected downtime, nearly all assets in industrial manufacturing can be viewed as critical. All assembly line style of manufacturing equipment is dependent on other equipment up line or down line to be operating during production. Even a small issue can severely cripple or entirely halt production. Therefore, it is highly critical to monitor any asset that has the potential to slow or halt production to reduce or eliminate unplanned downtime.

8. Pharmaceutical & Biotech

The primary assets to monitor in any pharmaceutical / biotech facility are HVAC, pumps and mixers critical to a validated batch manufacturing process, and utilities related to validated liquids manufacturing such as DI and WFI water. This includes Air Handling Units (AHU’s) and Steam & Chiller Plants. Most steam plants on pharmaceutical campuses are identical to small power plants, using gas boilers or gas turbines, boiler feed pumps, ID/FD fans and related support equipment. In addition, research facilities and scientific labs need adequate and consistent heating, cooling and supply of pure and validated water.
